Who is AEO8?
Jim Armstrong
Jim is the creator of AEO8 and is a full-time student at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), studying a Bachelor Degree in Business (Finance)/Laws. Jim completed his Senior Certificate at St Patrick’s College in 2004, where he first found an interest in studying a business degree after he completed his year 11 economics class.
Later, after considering his career path at the end of 2006 he found it prudent to combine that interest with studies in law to enhance his understanding of the legal system that shapes economic development in Australia, particularly the environment laws and financial markets.
He is passionate about the efficient interaction of business, individuals and government in an economy and believes this bestows a moral obligation on individuals to take action in attaining their true potential in life to improve themselves and their society.
In 2006 he was a Top 40 Finalist of the QUT Business Icon competition, which provided him with a keen insight into the competitiveness of future business leaders and entrepreneurs. The experience reinforced his understanding that an individual is not exclusively tested upon their academic results but upon the sum of their skills, experience and knowledge.
Jim also volunteers for QUT to help international university students make the transition into a new country and learning environment. He is particularly interested in this work because it provides the opportunity to practice his communication skills and expand his knowledge of the world.
In the future Jim plans to work in a variety of practice areas in law including corporate law, taxation law, intellectual property law and environmental planning law. Furthermore, he wants to keep promoting the benefits of basic knowledge in economics and the law to empower individuals to better understand their opportunities and benefiting from what an economically developed country like Australia has to offer.
